Twilight: New Moon Title Logo

The Official Title for New Moon has been revealed. Its going by the name The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

I rather like the logo. Very simple. In line with the style of Twilight. Though this one has a more earthy colour for the font. Let me try and guess the colour for Eclipse...it will be...red.

As for the title itself. I would have much liked a simple New Moon. I mean seriously The Twilight Saga: New Moon is such a mouthful. But I get why they chose it. For everyone else who is not familiar with the Twilight series, how are they to know that this the second part of the book series...Yes its there to ensure people know its relation to Twilight. And I guess for all those familiar to Twilight it will be just New Moon right? Right.

Whatever Happened To: Avril Lavigne's Sk8ter Boi Movie

I'm not sure when I suddenly stumbled upon this memory...but I had somehow remember a piece of movie news that made its way I think around late 2002 when Avril Lavigne first made it big. She had this hit called Sk8ter Boi after Complicated, and I had heard or read somewhere then, that they were going to make a movie out of it. I was like huh? Are they serious? If you haven't heard the song before, its basically about a preppy girl falling for a skater boy but she turned up her nose and choose another instead because he wasn't good enough for her. 5 years later...she has a baby and he's rocking on MTV. Yeah that's about it. Much to go by? I don't know. 7 years later and no such movie...I thought in a warp way, I'd have imagined the whole thing. But I did a quick search on IMDB...and its there on Avril's biography page (here). She had announced that her song was to be made into a movie. Hmm...I kinda wonder what it would have been like if it was made...then again I guess it would have been the typical teen flick.

You can watch the music video Sk8ter Boi here.

Trailer Watch: S. Darko

I guess it seems I was right in my previous post when I said that the second poster could have been the dvd cover art. You can it see it here as the dvd is up for pre-order at Amazon.com. Its funny how the title its going as S.Darko: A Donnie Darko Tale...I guess cause its pretty much its only selling point right?

Anyhow, the trailer has since been released. I don't think it was that bad. Visually it was ok. The special effects look pretty decent...given that I'm sure they have a smaller budget with almost no star power in this one...I had expected it to look worse. But the dialogue in the trailer, it was pretty bad...full of cliches..."Nothings ever been the same" "Its just the beginning". And seeing that the movie has a lot of the similar elements in Donnie Darko. the meteorite? the world ending? the weird whirlpool thing coming out of people and the bunny guy? Are you sure having that all happen all over again will work for a sequel? Story-wise it looks weak. But we'll have to see.

Twilight: The Alice Cullen Doll

Pic: [Source]

The International Toy Fair took place in New York earlier the past week and NECA revealed another one of their Twilight Dolls. Yes its the Alice Cullen doll. I like it...no surprise. I like all of Neca's Twilight dolls thus far. They have amazing likeness to the actors/characters. And once again love how they're pretty much spot on with all the clothes. And you know what...If you've never heard of Twilight before...and you saw the Alice Cullen doll you would have thought its part of some kind of goth themed set of dolls, cause she does look goth doesn't she. Not sure when the doll is available though nor how much it will be going for.

And I guess since we have now seen Neca's Alice Cullen doll, it safe to say, they will no doubt put out the rest of the characters soon. Yay! Can't wait!

Twilight : Bella Swan Action Figure

Ok. I Know I just did a post on Twilight dolls a few hours ago. But I just did another online search, this time for the Neca dolls...and guess what came out. Yes yes...its the Bella Swan Neca action figure...oh my...I'm soo thrilled. Its finally out. Well not really :). I mean its out for pre-order at Toywiz.com and according to them it ships in April. Its also actually a 2 pack action figure selling for $29.99. The Bella action figure is not sold individually (for now at least),she comes with the Edward action figure who is wearing dark glasses. I'm soo loving it, love love the details on the clothes, they're awesome. The faces, I think they're pretty well done. Anyway once again can't wait to get my hands on the action figures. More characters please.

Twilight: Twilight Tonner Doll Packaging

The Twilight Dolls by Tonner Doll company were displayed at the recent New York Comic Con. I found some pictures of them at Action-Figure.com gallery. This is the first time I've seen the packaging of the dolls. Apparently from the picture its this simple black box. I like it. Simplicity is good.

Posters Galore: S. Darko

S. Darko is one of the movies that is in my Movies I want to watch in 2009. It is the sequel to Donnie Darko, this weird little film that gained a cult like status...I have to admit I was surprised when it was announced last year that there was going to be a sequel. Donnie Darko is not exactly a movie that one makes a sequel to. But hey like I said, I won't write it off yet...I'll have to watch it first right?

News hit a week or so ago that the movie will only get a dvd release. That doesn't really look too good for the movie...already. It was also said that the trailer for the movie would premiere at the New York Comic Con..but nope...I did a search online and it seems no trailer thus far. Filming for the movie is supposed to have wrapped and the dvd itself is to hit shelves on April 28, I would have expected the trailer to be out now. The posters are out though. The first having been released months ago. I was skeptical that it was an official poster due to its likeness to the Donnie Darko poster, but it on the Official movie site...so I guess its real. The second poster is newer, one I found at http://www.daveigh-chase.org/. Is it fan made? Who knows...it definitely doesn't have any studio logos on it. But if its real...it could be the DVD cover art.

The only thing out there now are a few pics of the movies. Does it look good? Well it looks interesting enough. Daveigh Chase as Samantha Darko (what looks like the first official pic) certainly looks ghostly creepy in her mermaid-like outfit. You wonder...what happened to her...right. Bad? Good? I want to see how this movie will turn out. Hopefully it will be available for rental here too.

Posters Galore/ Trailer Watch: Phoebe in Wonderland

Plot Summary - The fantastical tale of a little girl who won't - or can't - follow the rules. Confounded by her clashes with the rule-obsessed world around her, Phoebe seeks enlightenment from her unconventional drama teacher, even as her brilliant but anguished mother looks to Phoebe herself for inspiration. IMDB.com

I've been interested in this little movie since like a year ago when it first premiere at Sundance last( You can read the post I did last year here). Its finally getting a release in early March in the US. When are we here in Singapore going to get to see it? No news on the date as of yet.

The poster for the movie has recently been released. And what a cheery little poster it is isn't it? Reminded me off the poster for Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood because of the prominent yellow sunflower right in the front. But this one of course has little Elle Fanning emerging from one of the missing petals. I guess its an effective poster, as in it does catches ones eyes doesn't it? But it does make the movie out to be a little too cheery doesn't it.

And here's the trailer.

It looks good. A little girl lost in the real world and the imaginary world she creates. I like the imagery of the film that we got to see in the trailer. The colours are either bright and cheery or sepia toned all pretty dreamlike. And you do get the basic plot of the movie from the trailer if you didn't know what the movie was about...and it did feature some good music in it too...so overall I thought it was a pretty good trailer...makes me want to watch the movie...not like as if I didn't want to watch it in the first place. :)

Podcast Spotlight: The Interface

I'm not really a music person. Meaning I'm not really knowledgeable on music. I don't really listen to music by bands most people haven't heard off...if you know what I mean...indie bands...and how listening to the like is the "cool" thing right now...well yeah not me...most of the music I listen too are the ones that end up on radio...well because radio is free you know.

According to iTunes, Interface is a weekly performance based show featuring hand-picked talent of interest. It first started off as a audio podcast and has since switched to the video podcast format that not only have performances but also a little interview with the artists as well.

Anyhow I discovered the Interface a few months ago when I was looking for some music performance podcasts. I have to admit...I don't know most of the artists that the Interface showcases...but the ones that I know and have watched...I rather enjoyed. The video and sound quality are very good. Most of the time the artists are performing acoustic sets...so again that is very good and especially since there are so few video podcasts of the kind. Some of the more popular artists that have made appearances include KT Tunstall, Kaiser Chiefs, and Adele. And if you're like me...this would be a great way to listen to some new and interesting stuff that otherwise won't be able to. Click here to go to the Interface iTunes page.

Posters Galore: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Just seen the new Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince posters. Not bad. I like the colours. Icy blue black...the story is suppose to be darker and more intense right? I'm guessing this would the first few character posters they're releasing. Curious as how the rest would look like. And did you notice how both characters are looking sideways...their left. And that reflection on last Harry's glasses on the last poster...that bright square-like thing...what is it that he's staring at?

Now what I don't like is the HP6 on the first poster. It makes the Harry Potter series one of those movies with a never ending series of sequels...when it isn't really. Neither do I like that the title is a bit cut off at the side. I guess I'm just picking at the little things. Otherwise...they're pretty much in line with what's been released for the Harry Poster movies.

**Update 2/2/2009**

I guess I spoke to soon. Apparently Amazon has come out with their own Twilight Ultimate Collector's set. And here are the extras it includes:

  • Twilight (Special Edition) Blu-ray Disc
  • Twilight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack CD
  • Jewelry Box: individually numbered

This set is a tad pricey going for $79.99 USD is currently available for pre-order which you can see here and will only be released on 5th of May. I think the packaging of this set is beautiful. The box is really pretty and I like the little case that has a red seal on it. Not really liking the bracelet and watch though...it looks...whats the word? Well lets go for kiddie? Childish? Something along that line.

Trailer Watch: G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

Was never interested with this movie to begin with. Am not even familiar with the characters at all. But I just saw The G.I. Joe Super Bowl spot. And wow was it explosive. Very cool...the costumes are just sleek and smokin...the shots were really good...and that last scene with Snakes Eyes doing that flip...a wicked way to end the spot. I had no expectations for this movie...and from the spot...it actually looks like it could be some good fun. Liked it even better than the Wolverine trailer.

Posters Galore/ Trailer Watch: X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Wolverine

X-Men 3

Now this is the first official Wolverine poster which was released a few days ago...which I didn't know. Apparently the other poster I had seen that features only the claws was fan made. Well what can I say...this poster is boring. Once again featuring the claws...very much like ...what was it the teaser poster for X-Men 3? The claws are even held in the very position. The difference? The Wolverine poster has Wolverine in it...and it looks more raw I would say. But come on, its just so boring. It doesn't even have its title on it...and I can so see people mistaking this for an X-Men 3 poster and people going "Wait didn't X-Men 3 come out like awhile ago? Is it showing again?"

The Wolverine trailer has also been released about a month ago which I've only recently checked out. Not really liking it much either. Honestly Wolverine was never my favourite character...and thus has never really been interested in his backstory...the trailer hasn't offered anything that makes me go wow...have to go see it. Sure there are some of those "cool stuff"...action sequences, fight scenes, explosions...Wolverine dodging bullets and roaring/growling?...the kind that makes people go to see blockbusters right? But it kinda looks a tad over the top. But here's why I will still watch the Wolverine movie... Its an X-Men movie...and we'll get to see more characters from the X-Men universe. There's Gambit for instance among others. Cyclops (a young Scott Summers) and Emma Frost according to Imdb.com too is supposed to have a little part in the movie. And did I see the trailer right...was that a child Storm there? And Sabretooth...does he look different or what? Where is his mane? Did that grow out later? So yeah...and who knows maybe its a step up from the Last Stand.
